Patient Account Representative Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner
  • Accurately collect and enter patient information into the electronic health record (EHR) system
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations
  • Process patient admissions, transfers and discharges
  • Ensure all required forms and documentation are completed and signed
  • Answer and manage phone calls, providing information and assistance as needed
  • Coordinate with medical staff and departments to ensure smooth patient flow
  • Handle patient inquiries and resolve any issues promptly and effectively
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned


Patient Account Representative Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or higher in healthcare administration or related field preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in patient registration or medical records
  • Proficient in using EHR systems and other computer applications
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
