Role Overview:
As our Rail Project Manager, you‘ll wear multiple hats: client manager, project leader, and technical guru. Your mission? To provide design engineering services on projects involving rail corridor improvements, rail crossings, grade separations, yard and facility improvements, and various services for freight railroads, passenger rail and transit agencies, local municipalities, state DOTs, and county DOTs. You will also provide technical assistance across regional offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaboration Champion: Work within our Chicago Region Transportation and Municipal Engineering team. Collaborate with other V3 group leaders across all offices of the firm in the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects and project pursuits.
- Work closely with our talented staff, clients, and subconsultants. Coordinate design activities seamlessly, fostering teamwork and innovation.
- Project Delivery: Set the pace Ensure projects meet deadlines, budgets, and performance targets. Your attention to detail will keep us on track.
- Protocol Management: Establish and manage delivery protocols pertaining to rail engineering projects. Your organizational skills will streamline our processes.
- Design Leadership: Lead the charge in engineering design tasks for rail projects. From conceptual sketches to final blueprints, your expertise will shape the rail corridors of tomorrow.
- Staff Development: Mentor and guide our rising stars. Your commitment to their growth ensures a brighter future for rail engineering.
- Quality Assurance: Review rail engineering documents meticulously. Excellence is our standard.
- Proposal Preparation: Craft compelling proposals and attend interviews for new project pursuits. Your persuasive abilities will win us exciting opportunities.
- Business Development: Forge relationships with Class I Railroads and public sector clientele. Attend networking events and represent V3 with pride.
- AREMA Engagement: Become an active member of AREMA (American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association). Join a technical committee and contribute to industry advancements.
- Client Satisfaction: Manage client accounts, billing, and collections. Your professionalism keeps our clients coming back.
- Other Duties: Adaptability is key. Be ready to tackle any rail-related challenge that comes your way.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 10+ years leading rail projects for Class I Railroads, passenger rail, and transit agencies.
- Credentials: PE/BSCE required.
- Communication Skills: Your ability to listen and articulate ideas sets you apart.
- AREMA Enthusiast: Membership preferred.
- Tech Savvy: Microstation/OpenRail experience? Bonus points
