Roots and Wings Legal, P.C. is a growing boutique law firm, and we’re seeking a motivated LL.M. student to join us at an exciting early stage. We specialize in serving high-net-worth families who own businesses, acting as their family’s legal department with a focus on protecting assets, expanding wealth, and securing legacies.

This is a unique opportunity for an LL.M. student with prior legal and business experience—particularly in mergers & acquisitions, business transactions, estate planning, tax law, or asset protection—to contribute to a firm where your skills will make a real impact.


Position Details:

  • Location: Walnut Creek, California
  • Work Authorization: Candidates must have valid work authorization (CPT or OPT).
  • Full-Time Preference: We are primarily seeking candidates available for full-time work. Exceptional candidates who are still completing their studies may be considered for part-time roles, with the expectation of transitioning to full-time.


Who We’re Looking For:

  • LL.M. students admitted to a foreign bar with prior legal experience (at least three years) in areas such as corporate law, mergers & acquisitions, business transactions, estate planning, tax law, or asset protection.
  • Experience with high-net-worth clients or businesses is a strong plus.
  • Business or management skills—whether through managing a team, handling operations, or contributing to business development in a legal setting.
  • Strong interest or expertise in business succession planning, estate planning for high-net-worth individuals, and transactional law.
  • A fast learner with a proactive attitude, eager to contribute to both legal and business operations.
  • Committed to our firm’s long-term success and ready to grow with us as we expand.


What You'll Do:

As a crucial early hire, you’ll play an essential role in helping to build our firm. Your responsibilities will include:


  • Assisting with client intake and consultations, ensuring that clients feel understood and supported.
  • Conducting legal research and drafting legal documents related to business transactions, estate planning, and asset protection.
  • Delivering legal advice and guidance to high-net-worth clients and families.
  • Applying your business and management skills to help create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), improve workflow efficiency, and manage internal processes.
  • Managing non-legal staff and handling administrative tasks, applying your leadership skills to support the firm’s daily operations.
  • Contributing to the firm’s marketing efforts and helping to pitch new business opportunities.
  • Engaging in any tasks that contribute to the success and growth of our firm.


This is a non-litigation role focused on transactional law and legal strategy for high-net-worth families and their businesses.
