Senior Program Manager

The Senior Program Manager develops, plans and delivers immersive, tailored short-term and seminar programs. Reporting to the Director of Programs, this position will assist with program conception and planning and be responsible for implementation, participant support, event and session planning, and other broad administrative duties. Moreover, the Senior Program Manager will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage programs effectively to each mission and objectives and ensure robust program assessment and evaluation is completed.
The Washington Center is a remote/hybrid organization with many employees working on average one day per week in TWC’s Residential and Academic Facility, conveniently located near Union Station and public transportation in the NoMa neighborhood of Washington, DC. Given our organizational mission focus on skills, workforce development and collaboration, there are times where cross-collaboration among teams and departments will require more than one day per week in the office. Further, some programs at TWC do require program staff to work nights and/or weekends. The individual in this role is expected to reside in the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area.
Essential FunctionsProgram Development and Design
- Develop high-impact, market-relevant and engaging short-term programs in coordination with Director of Programs. Programs should reflect market trends in the educational and workforce landscape, organizational needs and funding.
- Manage all components of program development and design including session design, speaker outreach and coordination, room/space reservations, and materials creation and distribution.
- Research relevant policy trends and keynote speakers for signature and short-term programs and seminars, with strong commitment to TWC values around inclusion of diverse voices and high-quality presenters.
- When available, partner with the identified Program Fellow or SME to support program development.
- Manage program budgets, track and submit program expenses including the vetting of external contractors and contributors, and report budgetary constraints to Director of Programs.
Program Management, Assessment and Evaluation
- Oversee and actively manage the administration of a portfolio of short-term programs.
- In collaboration with Senior Manager of Program Innovation, create tailored sessions, workshops, learning experiences, educational pathways that align with program goals.
- Partner with Sr. Manager of Innovation to develop program specific assessment and evaluation.
- Develop Program Outcome Reports for internal and external audiences.
- Serve as first contact for all program participants and support participants’ experience throughout the program.
- Partner with Marketing and Communications team to develop a communication plan for program participants.
Administration and Other Responsibilities
- Streamline processes across the portfolio of programs.
- Utilize data and best practices to implement support systems for participation of marginalized backgrounds.
- Collaborate with key staff to create program goals, strategize learning pathways, identify internal and external stakeholders, conduct targeted outreach, and more.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
- 3-5 years of experience in educational program management. Proven experience with session design, facilitation, and/or training.
- Experience with managing and leading a high-functioning team required.
- Practical knowledge of best practices in career readiness education and professional development.
- Experience with adult learning curriculum development and/or college-level program design is highly preferred.
- Experience in policy fields preferred.
- Experience with project or event management.
- Knowledge of or interest in broad policy trends that impact society areas such as foreign policy, economic policy, cybersecurity/technology/AI, healthcare, climate, governance is preferred.
- Understanding of trends pertaining to one or more of the following: workforce readiness, college to career pipelines, the future of work, or experiential education.
- The ability to own the full scope of a program and contribute from program design to administration.
- Skilled team player with the ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve program goals.
- Ability to manage and oversee multiple programs simultaneously while meeting program goals, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
- An understanding of the basic tenets of, and a commitment to, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and the ability to demonstrate DEI in future work.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
