Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the HR Manager in strategically driving the success of the HR department
  • Maintaining a positive labor/employee relations environment
  • Ensuring hourly production employee retention is maintained at an acceptable level
  • Providing guidance on workforce planning and succession planning
  • Effectively communicating and demonstrating Smithfield’s ROI guiding principles
  • Assisting in the development and execution of DE&I initiatives and maintaining a positive employee relations environment
  • Providing necessary resources to empower employees with knowledge and materials needed
  • Assisting in providing position and performance guidance based on HR policies and procedures
  • Providing direction/leadership to junior staff in servicing employee needs and performing overall HR functions
  • Actively listening and providing constructive feedback, recognition, and gratitude
  • Serving as a visible business partner and engaging employees at all levels


Qualifications:

Have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or related field


Required Skills:

  • Have 3+ years of HR-related experience and/or training
  • Have experience acting as a lead or managing a process or project
  • Have general knowledge of employment laws and practices
  • Possess specialized knowledge of HR systems, processes, and procedures


Preferred Skills:

  • Have experience in administration of benefits, compensation, and other programs (preferred)
  • Have knowledge and use of commonly used HRIS such as Workday, payroll/timekeeping systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Have demonstrated ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Are respectful, approachable, and team-oriented while building strong business partnerships and a positive work environment
