Our client, a leading developer in Southern California, specializes in innovative construction technology and multifamily properties in the Greater Los Angeles metroplex.


Position Summary:


The Permitting Coordinator/Manager will manage permitting projects from inception to completion, reporting regularly on status. Responsibilities include establishing project schedules, managing budgets, coordinating with consultants, and handling all project activities from pre-plan check to permit issuance. The candidate should have advanced skills in building permit expediting, government affairs, project management, and knowledge of the planning and construction landscape in Los Angeles.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and manage permitting projects.
  • Provide regular status updates.
  • Establish and manage schedules and budgets.
  • Coordinate with third-party consultants.
  • Independently manage project activities from pre-plan check to permit issuance.
  • Interface with municipalities regarding entitlements and regulations.
  • Attend plan check meetings and other required meetings.
  • Assist in project design, planning, and permitting processes.
  • Coordinate MEP design and permitting for utilities.
  • Develop solutions to design and entitlement issues.
  • Research and identify required permits.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications on time.
  • Follow up with agencies to expedite permits.
  • Maintain detailed records of permit applications.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Communicate permit requirements to team members.
  • Manage pre-plan check coordination.
  • Establish and manage fee budgets.
  • Delegate tasks to team members and consultants.
  • Prepare and maintain permit trackers.
  • Manage bond requirements and track plan set revisions.


Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in permit processing project management.
  • Experience with construction and development permits.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and project management software.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, and reliability.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Professional and team-oriented.
  • Familiarity with software programs like Zoom and Bluebeam.
  • Experience in accounts receivable and contract management.


Physical Demands:


  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and use hands.
  • Occasionally lift and transport building plans up to 20 pounds.
  • Local travel within the Los Angeles area.
