Kelly is currently recruiting candidates for a R&D Technician for one of our premiere clients in Springdale, AR.


The R&D Tech will participate on proactive innovation projects and support scientists with completion of the projects. They’ll apply scientific principles for research and improvement of existing products. This includes application of various microbial technologies to solve customer challenges in Meat, Beverage, Meals, Pet Food, and Plant Based Products. This will be achieved by working in a lab and understanding the customer needs. You will report to the RD&A Manager and be able to participate in brainstorming and ideation

Position Classification

  • 6 - 12 month Temp to Hire
  • 1st shift
  • Pay: $25/hr


Responsibilities

  1. Assist scientists with weighing up ingredients for lab testing and pilot plant production.
  2. Assist scientists with making formulas in the lab.
  3. Support pilot plant production runs on a variety of processing equipment.
  4. Support daily lab activities such as pH probe calibration, dishwasher startup/shut down, and freezer startup/shut down.
  5. Maintain lab common stock ingredients inventory.
  6. Support general lab organization by:
  7. Ordering lab supplies, sample storage and shipping materials, etc.
  8. Organizing lab, cooler, and freezer cleanouts
  9. Putting away dishes
  10. Ability to learn and run specialized lab equipment: Brookfield viscometer, Bostwick, pH probe, homogenizer.
  11. Submit analytical requests for product testing.


General Skills

  1. Accurately weigh ingredients.
  2. Strong organizational skills
  3. Self-motivated with good time management
  4. Good communication skills and ability to work across multiple teams.
  5. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  6. Must be able to taste and smell chemicals, flavors, and food products.
  7. Science background or experience in food, laboratory, or similar environment is a bonus.
  8. Science degree is a plus. High School is required.
  9. Experience working with food and understanding food safety.
