The Production Manager - Secondary Operations will be responsible for the day to day activities of the Medical and LMCO Defense product areas. Develop and maintain a well-trained, high energy motivated cross functional team. Responsible to drive safety, production efficiency, technology improvements, continuous improvement, and cost reductions.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Actively promote and drive a culture of safety within Spectrum Plastics Group.
  2. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, capacity planning and evaluation of all production equipment and department employees.
  3. Provide daily production support to achieve department goals for safety, quality, on-time delivery, scrap, efficiency, and cost improvements.
  4. Drive continuous improvement activities using Lean Manufacturing methodologies to improve both the efficiency and quality of manufacture
  5. Research, identify and implement new technologies to improve overall manufacture operations


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Support the Spectrum Plastics Group Vision and Mission Statement.
  2. Interface with Sales, Account Coordinators, Development Engineering, Maintenance, Shipping, and Planning personnel to achieve product commitments.
  3. Responsible for staffing including, selection, discipline, evaluations, compensation, transfers, and temporary staffing levels.
  4. Responsible for providing an environment that promotes continuous improvement and coordinating team communication and morale.
  5. Develop and provide subordinates ongoing training on the latest methods and technologies within the industry.
  6. Provide timely reports with in-depth analysis concerning various key production indicators and measurements.
  7. Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and supported.
  8. Be attentive to new manufacturing technologies that become available and recommend equipment that facilitates improvements.
  9. Support the Sales Strategy and identify manufacturing needs which allow us to exceed customer expectations.
  10. Play an active role in safety issues, correcting unsafe conditions, responsible for OSHA compliance.
  11. Proactively develop and execute strategies which result in continuous improvement and improved efficiency through Kaizen, 5S, and other Lean Manufacturing principles.
  12. Other duties as assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Promotes and ensures departmental safety including compliance to OSHA regulations, corrective action for unsafe practices, and ongoing safety training.
  2. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of all production and personnel including any weekend activity.
  3. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  4. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, EDUCATION AND TRAINING:


Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (B.S.) or five years of related work experience and/or education.

Excellent problem-solving skills to identify, gather, and analyze information develop solutions and resolve problems in a timely manner.

High level of accountability. Aligned with our policy of Promises Made – Promises Kept.

  • Experience with engineered resins in an injection molding processing environment, Value added CNC and Secondary Operations.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, team environment.


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and heat. Employee works in a clean room environment and must wear gowns, hair coverings, and booties.

The noise level in the work environment is loud in the molding area and minimal in the non-molding clean room.
