Sr. Director / Director, Biology - Obesity and Cardiometabolic Diseases

About the Role: Specializing in Obesity and Cardiometabolic Diseases, you'll be at the helm of developing and overseeing research initiatives while aligning technical teams with the company’s vision and strategy. This pivotal role entails close collaboration with leadership across departments to strategize, execute plans, manage pipelines, and drive the progression of research programs through various developmental stages. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Research, you'll play a key role in shaping the company's scientific trajectory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer expertise to advance later-stage development programs, focusing on molecular insights and therapeutic domains.
  • Spearhead efforts to evaluate therapeutic interventions against emerging targets linked to obesity and cardiometabolic diseases, collaborating with technology teams to refine therapeutic strategies.
  • Keep abreast of advancements in in vitro and molecular biology technologies within the realm of obesity and related disciplines, driving their integration into research endeavors.
  • Strategically leverage outsourcing to meet objectives, particularly in specialized segments of obesity and cardiometabolic development.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members at various levels, fostering broader perspectives and rigor in experimental design and strategic planning.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership in driving obesity and cardiometabolic research initiatives.
  • Proven track record in managing cross-functional teams and external collaborators, ensuring the seamless integration and quality of research efforts.
  • Proficiency in developing, standardizing, and implementing assays, with a focus on obesity and cardiometabolic diseases.
  • Exceptional mentorship and team management skills, particularly within the realm of obesity and cardiometabolic biomarker research.
  • Strategic acumen and resource management prowess, ensuring research activities align with company objectives in obesity and cardiometabolic drug development.
  • Strong communication abilities, capable of effectively conveying complex scientific concepts and findings to diverse stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Life Sciences
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in biotech/pharmaceuticals, with a focus on cardiometabolic research
  • Leadership experience, adept at building, nurturing, and leading teams
  • Deep understanding of cardiometabolic systems and proficiency in extracting insights from complex molecular datasets
  • Familiarity with regulatory submissions and strong technical writing skills
  • Superior oral presentation and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Self-directed with flexibility in approach
  • Strategic vision with the ability to align program and business objectives
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of excellence, problem-solving, and teamwork
  • Strong prioritization and complexity management skills
