About Family Promise of Greater New Braunfels:
Family Promise of Greater New Braunfels (FPGNB), an affiliate of the national Family Promise program, is dedicated to preventing and ending family homelessness in the Greater New Braunfels area through a community-based response. We provide housing, meals, case management and community for children and their families experiencing homelessness. Executive Director High Level Job Objective:
The Master's level Social Worker (required) will oversee all aspects of Family Promise of Greater New Braunfels to ensure the high-performing organization has the necessary resources to deliver on its mission. This position will maintain positive relations with partner entities, stakeholders, investors/ donors, and media outlets. Simultaneously, however, the ED will ensure the operational effectiveness and financial security of the organization and provide inspiration, leadership and vision to staff, board members, and volunteers. The tasks listed below are not all-inclusive.

Case Management
- Supervise Case Management team: set and ensure FPGNB meets organizational outcomes, programs have resources to deliver on its missions, families are cared for, handle any family crisis swiftly and compassionately. The Executive Director must be able to be a thought partner to the Social Worker in discussing family situations and needs since these are families’ lives and we must ensure the best efforts possible for our families.
- Assure that the confidentiality of guests is maintained at all times.
Board Relations:
- Ensure good relationships with board members that will result in a highly functioning board as well as a feeling of trust and commitment to the Board. Assist the board in creating working committees, assist in scheduling meetings, and communicate well about each committee's needs. Develop an excellent relationship with the Board Chair that results in a highly collaborative partnership.
Management:
- Lead a high-performing organization: volunteer, board, and staff management. HIre staff as allowed by the budget. Conduct staff reviews and provide supervision and feedback as necessary to have a high-performing team.
- Ensure the organization has policies and procedures written, approved by the board, and provided and explained to all staff.
Financial and Fundraising:
- Lead the work to ensure financial accountability of the organization; ensuring that the staff complete the items they are required to complete, and that the volunteer board members complete the tasks they are required to complete.
- Maintain an aura of honesty and integrity in financial record keeping such that both staff and board have confidence in accounting practices.
- Lead the work to develop an annual budget, review budget to actual reports each month, and work with the bookkeeper and board to maintain responsibility over the approved budget and all expenses.
- Work with development staff and board to write grants, seek donations, and to always seek opportunities for revenue for the organization.
Administrative:
- Ensure that all requirements of nonprofits, businesses, Family Promise affiliates as well as state, local, and county governments are adhered to.
- Be on-call for emergencies during off-hours as scheduled. Oversee on-call scheduling of staff.
- Ensure accurate records on financials, operations, guests’ outcomes, and programmatic outcomes. Provide reports for the Board of Directors and funding sources. Provide annual statistics and other information to National Family Promise.
Relations:
- Work directly with staff to assure the program is being marketed effectively, develop partnerships for funding and for programming, get involved as a member of the nonprofit community to assure quality of services and referrals are being provided, etc.
Accountability:
The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors of Family Promise of Greater New Braunfels. The salary to be offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Salary and working hours: The salary for this position is dependent on experience. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. This is a full-time position, and the Executive Director must be available to work nights, some weekends, and be on call.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in social work REQUIRED
- Experience working in administration of a human services nonprofit
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly public speaking ability and writing.
- 5+ years of experience working in the non-profit field.
- Leadership and supervision experience.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with community partners, volunteers, corporations, and boards.
- Demonstrated success in developing budgets, monthly financial review and understanding.
- Demonstrated success in fund development and financial management.
- Knowledge of homeless service provision models and programming, local, state, and federal housing authorities, social service agencies and general assistance programs.
- The ability to think creatively and entrepreneurially – we are constantly looking for ways to better our service provision.
- Maturity, compassion and empathy for our guests and an ability to relate to individuals from many different racial, ethnic, religious and class backgrounds.
Additional Requirements
- Knowledge of basic computer software and electronic communication tools.
- Ability to pass criminal background check.
