A leading manufacturer in the Work Truck Industry, is searching for a Manufacturing Fixture Design Engineer. The primary focus of the role is to provide fixture design expertise, ensuring that new and existing product requirements can be met safely, at optimum quality and cost levels.


Primary Job Duties:

  • Manual and Robotic Weld Fixture, tooling, and peripheral manufacturing equipment design
  • Process Improvement
  • Project management


Skills/ Experience:

  • Experienced designer of large assemblies with knowledge of concepts including tolerance analysis, process capability, weldments, and tool design.
  • Proficient user of 3D CAD Software (CREO is company standard)
  • Experience collaborating with manufacturing colleagues to develop and implement robust solutions that meet safety, ergonomics, cost, and ease of use targets.
  • Familiar with error proofing methods like failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA).
  • Exhibits thorough documentation, organizational, self-management, and communication skills.
  • Experienced with quality systems like ISO 9001 and new product development processes.
  • Experience troubleshooting process related issues that arise within manufacturing and/or production assembly.
  • Data driven approach to design and evaluation of solutions to ensure they meet functional and performance requirements.
  • Commitment to accuracy, detail, and well thought out designs.
  • Self-motivated, self-learner, results oriented, and exhibits sound time management.
  • Hands-on approach and ownership of results.
  • Ability to adapt and learn within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with pneumatics, sensors and controls is preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma preferred.
  • Knowledge of robotic welding, robotic fabrication and robot controls is preferred.


Education Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
  • 5-10 years of experience or a combo of education and experience will be considered
