Summary:

Assigns tasks, supervises and trains Machine Operators to perform setups and programing of CNC machines.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Train and supervise CNC machine operators in daily responsibilities and procedure enforcement consisting but not limited to required documentation, tool life maintenance, daily machine maintenance requirements, Q.C. adjustments and machine error tracking etc.
  • Participate in the creation of the daily machine schedule providing feedback to feasibility, flow and operator capacity. Ensure all machines are running in accordance with the daily published schedule.
  • Problem solving. / Component Quality: Coordinate directly with QC department to validate part quality from QC reports. For any non-conforming issues, validate part setup, tool builds, fixture requirements and machine geometry and coordinate data with QC and Manufacturing Engineering to achieve the required resolution and expected quality.
  • Using the forecasted machine schedule, proactively verify the machines are configured correctly with appropriate tooling, available tool life, and fixtures as required to meet the forecasted production schedule.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate SOP's and WI's to maintain, troubleshoot, and improve processes related to: Machine maintenance, operator procedures, tooling procedures, presetting procedures etc.
  • Schedule machine operator work schedules, monitor OT targets, and oversee and follow up on assigned tasks given to machine operator team members.
  • Actively mentors and participates in the training of machinists. Includes goal setting and review, along with completion of annual performance review.
  • Responsible for communication with management team of any critical machine or machine operator issues.
  • Directs and assigns tasks to EME Technicians/Lead Technician to support maintenance and engineering job requirements.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Five years' experience in a supervisory capacity

Ten years' experience in CNC Operations and Programming


Education and/or Experience:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school plus a minimum of 4 years of working experience in manufacturing or engineering technicians; or a minimum of 6 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to read and understand component technical manuals.


Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Current Driver’s License


Other Skills and Abilities:

Be able to program Hass equipment


Other Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in engineering is a plus

ISO 9001/AS 9100 QMS system

Lean manufacturing system, Root cause analyses, Process control methodology
