Quality Supervisor

Summary: The Quality Supervisor provides leadership and guidance for the department. They will accept ownership of ensuring the staff is developed in all quality assurance functions. They work closely with the Quality & Engineering Manager to ensure the department is providing the appropriate support to the entire organization. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include the following: Duties may be modified, or additional duties assigned.

  • Supervise, Mentor and Support the Quality staff to assure that:
  • All inspection requirements (1st pc, final) are completed accurately and timely.
  • New product requirements are completed ahead of schedule and reviewed for thoroughness.
  • Gage calibration is always up to date.
  • Product quality audits are being complete on the required interval.
  • In coming inspection is completed as required.
  • Areas of improvement are identified, and training needs are reviewed and followed through.
  • Daily review and entry of nonconforming product information into specified computer program to include:
    • Review of the nonconformance and determination of disposition with the assistance of the production supervisors or engineering,
    • Review of the completeness of the nonconforming material tag, and daily documentation of discrepancies that are found to be forwarded to the production supervisors and operations management,
    • Verification of proper root cause analysis determination and subsequent effectiveness of determined corrective action to eliminate or reduce the nonconformance.
  • Initiate workflows for customer and supplier non-conformances; supply the proper personnel or customer with return information.
  • Review customer returned product to determine disposition and proper follow up with production to determine root cause and corrective action.
  • Identify areas of continuous improvement within the quality department and in the Quality Management System.
  • Manage gaging needs for new and existing work.
  • Manage the internal audit system and assure timely completion of audits and submit findings and corrective action requests to management.
  • Complete new part quality documentation requirements; including, ballooned drawings, inspection check sheets, operator instructions, spc charts, process flow diagrams, process failure mode and effects analysis’, process control plans, dimensional layout requirements, part submission warrants, capability study, and measurement system analysis.
  • Work with customers on deviation approvals for dimensional and cosmetic issues, discuss possible engineering changes to improve part manufacturability, and address any concerns on shipping preservation issues or part quality.
  • Supplier audits.
  • Monthly metric data entry and review of the cost of quality information.
  • Statistical Process Control data analysis for possible process improvement.
  • Assist with all quality tasks as needed, including CMM programming.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Manufacturing Engineer degree or Quality Associate degree preferred, High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in Quality preferred
  • Knowledge of CMM programming, use and supporting software preferred
  • Knowledge of APQP requirements preferred
  • Knowledge of gauging methodology and metrology preferred
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 requirements preferred
  • Strong independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem solving skills are essential

 

Physical Demands:

Required to be able to sit for longer periods of time, move about throughout the office and machine shop environment and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

The employee will work in a lab environment. Occasionally need to access machine shop floor. May travel to visit customers – at times stay overnight if needed.
