The Challenge:

As an Associate Director in Intelligent Automation for R&D Digital Products, you will play a key role in transforming clinical development and research processes through automation. As part of our IT & Digital Team, you’ll contribute to revolutionizing the treatment landscape by harnessing AI and digital technologies. This role offers the chance to drive digital transformation and streamline operations, ultimately enhancing patient care and scientific discovery.


Your Role:

As an innovation-focused Intelligent Automation Architect, you will design and implement automation solutions that optimize and streamline clinical development and research processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for automation, delivering solutions that enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and improve data quality. This role requires a deep understanding of the biotech industry, clinical development operations, and the latest automation technologies.

You will lead a skilled team of Automation Engineers, deploying holistic enterprise automation techniques enabled through low-code platforms. The role involves working on automation for clinical trial agreements, contract management, site management, and other R&D functions. You will also optimize laboratory software and enhance the efficiency of scientific investigations through adaptive automations.


Roles & Responsibilities:

Automation Architecture: Design, develop, and deploy intelligent automations tailored for R&D functions such as Research Informatics, SDMS, Lab Management Systems, Pathology, Imaging, Pharmacology, and Development Operations.

Integration and Development: Integrate automation with AWS Data Lakes, big data, analytics, AI, and machine learning. Use tools like RPA, Power Platform, UiPath, Blue Prism, and Automation Anywhere to streamline processes in Clinical Development Operations.

Optimization: Leverage microservices architecture for intelligent scheduling, process management, and cost optimization. Apply innovative solutions to elevate automation from a tactical to a strategic capability.

Collaboration: Work closely with business stakeholders, analysts, engineers, and other IT&D teams to understand automation requirements and deliver high-quality solutions. Ensure alignment with business objectives and empower scientists and researchers in R&D.

Continuous Improvement: Implement ALM, DevOps, continuous integration, and deployment. Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain automations to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance.

Innovation: Stay updated on the latest trends in intelligent automation, AI/ML, cloud computing, and big data architecture. Participate in the Architecture Community of Practice to drive improvement and innovation across the organization.

Team Leadership: Lead a skilled team of Automation Engineers to achieve architectural and automation engineering excellence.


Essential Skills & Requirements:

• Industry Experience: Experience in Life Sciences, Biotech, or Pharma is essential.


Educational Background:

o Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

o Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.


Professional Experience:

o At least 5 years of experience in automation development, testing, and deployment using cloud-based platforms and tools.

o Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, and RPA tools such as Power Platform, UiPath, Blue Prism, or Automation Anywhere.

o Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

o Experience in applying AI, ML, and big data techniques to automate complex business processes.


Technical Expertise: Ability to design, develop, and maintain modular, scalable, and reusable automation solutions. Experience in data architecture, data modeling, and data integration is a plus.


Skills: Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Familiarity with agile methodologies and DevOps practices.


Certifications: Certification in Cloud computing, Power Platform, relevant automation tools, or AI/ML is a plus
