Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Used Car Sales Manager at Ruddell Auto. The Sales Manager will be responsible for overseeing pre-owned vehicle sales, managing sales processes, ensuring customer satisfaction, and providing exceptional customer service.


Ideal candidates:

  • Previous Used Car Management experience required
  • Develops, implements, and monitors a follow-up system for used-vehicle purchasers and processing.
  • Maintains vehicle inventory. Monitors customers’ likes and dislikes, lost sales, and dealership sales history and conducts local market analyses to determine which vehicles to stock.
  • Use appraisal tools, such as V-Auto, to determine appropriate vehicle pricing.
  • Ensures that cosmetic and mechanical reconditioning is performed within the dealership's cost and time limitations, in a time sensitive manner to prevent unit value losses.
  • Tracks results of auction purchases and compares gross profits of auction vehicles with those of trade-ins.
  • Develops and maintains outside sources (wholesalers and retailers) for both buying and selling units.
  • Have a record of performance with a very persuasive, empathetic selling style
  • Are self-motivated and competitive with a strong drive to get things done; “go-getter” attitude
  • Have some Internet/social networking , and marketing experience
  • Must be a able to work comfortably in a team environment
  • Have understanding of and ability to coach and counsel employees and help them to grow into top salespeople
  • Have understanding of and ability to compliment, reward and give positive reinforcement
  • Are enthusiastic and goal oriented and a Professional appearance and excellent communication skills
  • Have strong product knowledge
  • Clear understanding of dealership financials and the ability to use them to the company's benefit
  • General Motors dealership Experience Preferred
  • Have advanced computer skills including Word, Outlook and Excel; Autosoft, Dealer Socket and Dealer Track is preferred
  • Are conscientious with a concern for accuracy and attention to details
  • Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen and have a clean DMV
  • Work directly with customers to develop enriching relationships that improve client happiness and fuel the sales process
  • Establish trust among customers to establish strong network of clientele and prospects
  • Provide training and support to sales staff and assist in closing deals
  • Facilitate regular sales training for continue team growth
  • Demonstrate leadership by setting a clear vision and goals for the sales targeted performance
  • Engage and motivate the team to achieve key goals, performance expectations and standard methodology processes
  • Drive business through a high-level of involvement in day-to-day operations
  • Lead the negotiation process ensuring that customers understand their vehicle purchase options and pricing
  • Partner with other managers to plan and run vehicle inventory
  • Assist in running controllable expense elements for the New and Used Vehicle Departments
  • Inspect and test drive vehicles
  • Appraise trade-ins and buy cars from private parties
  • Coordinate reconditioning, order parts, and get cars ready for sale
  • Take photos, write ads, and post new inventory online
  • Manage the CRM, set appointments, and show cars to customers
  • Help customers get financed with banks
  • Analyze business metrics to resolve shortfalls and implement action plans to elevate performance
  • Attends managers’ meetings, as directed.
  • Maintains professional appearance.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
