KRL International LLC is a boutique consulting firm providing comprehensive, custom-fit services to bridge the divide between Washington D.C. and the world's emerging markets. We specialize in advocacy, government relations, communications, and commercial diplomacy. Although our reach is global, our focus is Africa.


We are seeking a part-time intern to join our small, cooperative team for Fall 2024, starting in early September, with the possibility of extending through Spring 2025. The selected individual will work closely with KRL’s staff and gain hands-on professional experience in a research-focused capacity. The position offers competitive hourly compensation and can offer course credit to current students.


Responsibilities

·      Contribute to client projects by conducting background research and reviewing written products.

·      Edit written materials for both internal and external use, including memos, analytical reports, press releases, and other communications products.

·      Report on policy developments in the White House, Congress, and other relevant institutions by monitoring media, Congressional hearings, think tank events, and other public information sources. Compile reports from local media in priority markets.

·      Manage contact databases, social media platforms, and perform other administrative tasks as needed.


Requirements

·      Completed or working toward a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, Master’s degree a plus.

·      1 to 2 years of relevant work experience, including internships and volunteer work.

·      Excellent written and oral communication skills.

·      Strong quantitative and qualitative research, analytical, and critical thinking skills with high attention to detail.

·      Ability to deliver under tight deadlines, juggle multiple competing priorities, and learn quickly.

·      Demonstrated interest in foreign relations, emerging markets, international trade and development, democracy and elections, or related topics.

·      Proficiency in MS Office (especially PowerPoint and Excel), Dropbox, and Google Drive.


Additional qualifications

·      Knowledge of international affairs, including one or more of the following areas: technology, infrastructure, energy, entrepreneurship, peace and security, elections.

·      Knowledge of congressional and federal issues, actors, and processes related to international development and business.

·      International educational or work experience in sub-Saharan Africa a plus.

·      Foreign language abilities (particularly French, Spanish, or Portuguese) a plus.
