Located on 10 picturesque acres is Citizen’s Options Unlimited Shoreham Intermediate Care Facility (ICF), offering an opportunity for an Assistant Director of Nursing to coordinate operations within the nursing department for a caseload of buildings.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide direct supervision to RN and LPN staff by maintaining ongoing supervisory interaction and conducting yearly evaluations.
  • Ensure the implementation of proper principles of primary nursing, in accordance with OPWDD and DOH regulation, ensuring the effectiveness of each nursing department.
  • Be responsible for scheduling of nursing staff to ensure compliance with required staffing minimums. Is on call to the program 24/7 to manage staffing issues and assist with triage of medical concerns.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs to identify and implement immediate and long-term plans of correction for systemic medical concerns/problems.
  • Function as a member of agency Human Rights, Incident Review and Medical Review Committees.
  • Assist with retention and hiring of nursing staff.
  • Assist with coordinating nursing staff meetings & attend administrative and management meetings to communicate medical information and seek recommendations to improve medical care to individuals in each program.
  • Ensure that nursing department adherence to all ICF regulations and participates in ongoing surveys by OPWDD.
  • Confer with individuals who receive supports and services and their family members/correspondents by telephone and scheduled treatment team meetings to serve as an insightful resource and to discuss their specific questions related to their medical concerns.
  • Ensure 24/7-day week RN on-call system for the program including review of RN responses and establishment of on-call protocols as needed in conjunction with the director.

We require:

  • Valid NYS Registered Professional Nursing License
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License
  • 5 years of experience in clinical nursing working with the developmentally disabled (2 of which are in a supervisory capacity)
