Job Summary

Citizens Options Unlimited is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Caregiver to join our team at DSP Citizens Shoreham ICF. As a Caregiver, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with personal care needs, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, to promote independence and dignity.
  • Transport residents to medical appointments and engage in recreational activities to enhance their quality of life.
  • Implement resident-specific programs and goals, as outlined in the goal book, to promote independence and life skills.
  • Assist with meal preparation and ensure residents adhere to prescribed diets to maintain optimal health.
  • Administer medication and medical procedures, as qualified and trained, to ensure residents receive proper care.
  • Maintain a safe environment for residents by supervising and utilizing safety techniques and adaptive equipment.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss resident progress and goals, and provide input and ideas.
  • Purchase personal items and clothing to meet residents' daily living needs and enhance their appearance.
  • Train new employees on direct care skills and procedures to ensure a smooth transition.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • NYS driver's license required and maintained throughout employment.
  • Ability to understand written and oral directives/information.
  • Physical aspects may include lifting and transferring of adults/children.
