Job Summary: The Head of Fulfillment and Logistics is solely responsible for managing all aspects of warehousing and fulfillment strategy for one of Pietra’s fastest-growing business units. This individual will play a pivotal role in balancing both short and long-term business initiatives, calling upon their diverse early-stage startup experience to help shape the future of eCommerce as we know it. From day one, we expect this employee to identify areas of cost savings and process improvement as well as oversee our 3PL expansion strategy. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in logistics, and people management and has a proven track record of leading high-performing teams.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Process Ideation, Creation, and Optimization: This individual will analyze all existing 3PL processes (inbound, outbound, returns processing), identify areas of opportunity, and then re-configure processes to drive continuous improvement. This person possesses a proven ability to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
  • WMS System Management: One of Pietra’s strategic advantages is our internally built WMS and company-owned and operated 3PL. This individual will assist in setting our product roadmap and play a key role in feature scoping, working closely with the fulfillment team’s Product Manager and dedicated warehouse engineering team to see features through to completion.  
  • Team Leadership: This member of our team will lead, mentor, and manage teams of increasing size, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and high performance along the way. 
  • Supplier and Vendor Management: We expect this person to maintain strong relationships with shipping carriers and freight brokers. Assisting the Finance team with rate negotiation and contract management ensuring that service quality is being met and cost-effectiveness solutions are in place. 
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: We’re all about data-based decision-making. This person will utilize data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and report on the performance of fulfillment and logistics operations. Make data-driven decisions to improve processes and achieve business goals.


Qualifications: 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., APICS, CLTD) preferred.
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in logistics, supply chain management, or fulfillment operations, with a minimum of 4 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of best-in-class logistics and supply chain principles, including inventory management, warehousing, and transportation.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in logistics management software and systems (e.g., WMS, TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
