We are seeking two or three entry to mid-level Electrical Engineers to join a growing team-oriented space of 30 people located at a utility with offices in Eveleth and Duluth Minnesota. Someone coming from a background with a relatively even split of both field and desk work, and some operational utility experience preferably in the electrical realm. Someone who wants to grow in a company that projects a generous salary increase as you progress through the job family engineering ranks. A self-driven individual who is a good communicator that asks a lot of questions, is well-rounded, takes initiative, and is eager to learn would be the perfect fit.



Day to day:

Starting the day with an assigned project in one of many different areas between: maintaining or building out distribution system (either overhead or underground design) or working with our grid modernization team to improve reliability with self-restoring and self-isolating equipment. Tasks such as substation design, reliability, trouble shooting, solar interconnects, overhead construction, and underground construction are a few of the activities you could be working on. Each member of the team has their specialty that leverages their existing strengths and adds value to the overall team environment but should also be able to step into the other areas of work when needed and wear multiple hats to learn and grow during their career. This is a client facing role, with site visits required (shared company vehicle, or gas reimbursed at the federal rate), working with operations technicians and line crews to gather their input while developing solutions with customers varying from residential to some of the largest mines in North America. There will be a pretty even split of desk and field work for this Electrical Engineer.



Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering or will consider other engineering degrees with some utility experience.
  • Mix of field (client facing/ hands on site work) and desk (design/ project management) background
