L.K. Jordan & Associates is hiring for an Electrical Engineer in Austin, Texas with an established, midsized Engineering consulting firm specializing in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design.


Position Overview:

Seeking an experienced and licensed Electrical Engineer (PE) to join our team. As a key member of our electrical engineering department, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for commercial and institutional projects. Your role will involve managing all aspects of electrical design, from concept through construction, while ensuring compliance with codes and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and engineering of electrical systems for commercial, healthcare, and institutional buildings, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, communications, and security systems.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight on electrical projects, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely completion.
  • Conduct load calculations, short circuit analysis, and voltage drop analysis.
  • Prepare and review electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes, including the NEC (National Electrical Code).
  • Work closely with clients, architects, and other engineering disciplines to develop integrated solutions.
  • Perform site inspections and field assessments to validate design decisions.
  • Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and project documentation.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers, providing guidance and professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Active PE (Professional Engineer) license is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering design for building systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT required.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical codes and standards, including NEC and NFPA.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with clients.
  • Strong project management skills, including experience overseeing design projects from conception through completion.
