Job description:

An experienced Information Technology Finance Applications Manager to lead and manage the Finance Applications team. This team supports the Finance and Procurement departments, handling the enhancement and support of Oracle ERP Finance, Procurement, and Inventory-related modules, as well as related applications such as Tagetik budgeting and Trapeze Enterprise Asset Management.


Responsibilities:

  1. Team Management:
  • Direct and manage the Finance Applications team in application development, implementation, and support.
  • Handle goal setting, performance monitoring, appraisals, staffing recommendations, training, and disciplinary actions.
  • Promote team growth through appropriate assignments, feedback, self-study, and training.
  1. Project Management:
  • Develop a clear understanding of project scope and expectations.
  • Plan and maintain project schedules in coordination with stakeholders.
  • Anticipate potential problems, develop contingency plans, and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor and report project progress to all stakeholders and key management.
  • Provide post-implementation support and make justified changes as needed.
  1. Customer Engagement:
  • Engage with key customers to identify needs and timelines, and establish priorities.
  • Lead and participate in design sessions to enhance business processes, efficiency, and information flow.
  1. System Improvement and Support:
  • Stay current on ERP application capabilities and best practices in Finance, Procurement, and Inventory Management.
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop improvement strategies.
  • Collaborate on the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications and enhancements.
  • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of systems.
  • Promote adherence to development lifecycle and IT standard methodology.
  • Ensure proper training and handoff to end users for all modified and new systems.
  1. Financial Management:
  • Manage a budget of between $1M and $2M, ensuring economical use of financial and personnel resources.
  • Balance support and development needs within budget specifications.
  1. Strategic Planning:
  • Devise and implement communication and support strategies for high customer satisfaction.
  • Determine strategic directions for Finance, Procurement, and Inventory application areas.
  • Develop cost/benefit analyses for capital planning and present recommendations to senior management.
  • Research new ERP and IT trends.
  1. Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with other Applications Development managers and IT teams in joint projects.


Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • B.A./B.S. in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of management or project management experience.
  • Total of 10 or more years’ experience in Information Technology.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Experience with Oracle E-Business ERP system, version R12 or better, and related modules (AP, AR, FA, GL, Purchasing, iProcurement, iSupplier, etc.).
  • Familiarity with budgeting software like Tagetik and Maintenance/Asset Tracking systems like Trapeze EAM.
  • Experience working with Financial and Procurement business areas.
  • Experience as a functional team lead or project manager on Oracle ERP projects, including upgrades and new functionality implementations.
  • Skills:
  • Ability to supervise a staff of 5-10 people.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to understand ERP systems, interfaces, and technical issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with technical and business personnel.
  • Ability to assess business needs and recommend appropriate IT solutions.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, work under pressure, and maintain schedules.

  • Education:
  • M.S. or MBA.
  • Experience:
  • Experience in the transit industry, public sector, or previous experience with transit IT.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project, project management tools, issue tracking tools like Footprints, relational database concepts, query tools like SQL and TOAD, and reporting tools like OBIEE Discoverer or Crystal Reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
