Responsibilities


The Data Scientist collects relevant data to develop credit and fraud risk as well as servicing and collection models utilizing statistical techniques such as logistic regression and other machine learning approaches, i.e., random forest, gradient boosting. Key responsibilities include: 


  • Conduct data analysis to optimize the underwriting policies in how model scores, business and credit bureau rules work together to produce desired financial performance.


  • Assess, clean, merge, and analyze large datasets adhering to standardized data manipulation techniques and methodology by leveraging Snowflake, Python, etc.


  • Perform portfolio analytics, special projects, drill-down analysis and other duties as needed.


  • Prepare on-going model performance monitoring reports and provide recommendations when performance deteriorates.


  • Prepare model development documentation and update policy documentation.


Qualifications


Education and Required Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative subject. (Mathematics, Economics, Statistics preferred)
  • 3+ years’ experience in the analytical or financial services field.


Technical Skills/Abilities


  • Working knowledge of programming languages used to extract, manipulate, and analyze data such as SQL, Python, SAS or similar.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with statistical modelling and basic concepts of machine learning.


Personal Skills

Understanding of business needs/requirements, ability to effectively communicate with both internal departments and external vendors/clients, ability to self-motivate and manage multiple analytical projects simultaneously.
