About Sapience Therapeutics
At Sapience, we think boldly about the possibilities for treating cancer. We aim to discover and develop peptide therapeutics to address oncogenic and immune dysregulation that drive cancer. With in-house discovery capabilities, Sapience has built a pipeline of therapeutic candidates called SPEARs™ (Stabilized Peptides Engineered Against Regulation) that disrupt intracellular protein-protein interactions, enabling targeting of transcription factors which have traditionally been considered undruggable, and can deliver cargo to cell surface targets with their new class of molecule called SPARCs™ (Stabilized Peptides Against Receptors on Cancer), enabling delivery of payloads such as α-particles to cancer cells.Sapience is advancing its lead programs, ST316, a first-in-class antagonist of β-catenin, and ST101, a first-in-class antagonist of C/EBPβ, through Phase 1-2 clinical trials.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Research Technician to support synthetic and analytical activities to progress peptide drug candidates from early discovery through to clinical trials. Applicants must be able to work in a multi-tasking environment where multiple priorities are managed. Applicants must be able to work well with others across a wide range of disciplines.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate careful lab practices, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and practice new techniques. They will be self-motivated, a skilled problem solver, and will have the ability to grow into the role as they gain more experience.
Responsibilities:
- Synthesize and purify peptides using an automatic synthesizer and reverse-phase chromatography
- Optimize analytical methods for assessing peptide purity
- Assess peptides for solubility, proteolytic stability, and long-term chemical and physical stability
- Ability to organize the daily work in a rational and productive way
- Ability to interpret results, to identify technical problems and to implement solutions
- Keep up-to-date and well-organized records of experiments
- Collaborate with other team members and ability to adapt to new priorities.
Requirements:
- A minimum of a B.S in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year industry experience is preferred.
- Time and organizational management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate.
