Position Overview:

The Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) is responsible for conducting land surveys and preparing accurate and detailed survey reports and maps. The PLS must have extensive knowledge and experience in the field of surveying, as well as a strong understanding of surveying equipment and software.

The PLS will oversee and manage all aspects of land surveying projects, including conducting field surveys, preparing survey documents, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards. The PLS will work closely with project managers and other team members to ensure project success and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field surveys using various surveying equipment, including GPS, robotic total stations, and drones.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed survey reports and maps, including topographic, boundary, ALTA, and other types of surveys.
  • Utilize AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Carlson, and other surveying software to assist in the preparation of survey documents.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to Land Surveyors in Training (LSIT) and other team members.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and successful project completion.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and other team members to ensure project goals are met.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards, including MSHA and state licensing requirements.
  • Conduct construction stakeouts and prepare cut sheets and other necessary documents for construction projects.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in Land Surveying/Civil Engineering
  • Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) in the state of Maryland
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar drafting software
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of surveying equipment and software, including Trimble, Topcon, Leica, and MicroStation
  • Experience with deed research preferred
