This includes placing IVs and monitoring volunteer care with dosing, performing ECGs, vital signs, blood and urine collection. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.

About the role:

  • This role is a 0.6 FTE (48 hours per pay period) and is benefit eligible
  • The role is day/evening with 3, 8 hour shifts per week
  • This role includes up to 2 shifts per month on weekends
  • There are opportunities to pick up additional shifts if available


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical procedures / assessments according to the approved protocol requirements, NN standard operating procedures and ICH GCP.
  • Assist in the coordination of staff and participants within the clinical unit, troubleshooting any on study issues that arise on a day-to-day basis in consultation with the Clinical Operations Management (refer to organizational structure for direct line management) / or Project Team.
  • When delegated, amend approved task pads in terms of updating dosing times, bed order, staff allocation in conjunction with / absence of Clinical operations management and Resource Coordinator.
  • Administer Investigational Product, prescription, and concomitant medications via all routes (i.e., IV / IM / SC / PO etc.) as appropriately trained and according to NN SOPs.
  • Understand the potential adverse reactions / on-study procedure requirements of all clinical trials conducted on shift.
  • Monitor and accurately document adverse events / concomitant medications according to NN SOPs or the protocol requirements.
  • Provide general nursing care and monitor the wellbeing of patients / healthy participants when on study, taking appropriate actions when necessary.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all biological samples to the lab to ensure integrity of the samples is maintained and processing times are met.
  • Assist in training / mentoring of Clinical Staff in clinical procedures and facility orientation as delegated by Clinical Operations Management.
  • Assist the Screening Department with appointments in the event of absence or when delegated by management to do so.
  • Assist in preparing the clinical unit for check-in and next day on study procedure set-up.
  • Enforce NN Clinical Unit House Rules with all study participants and visitors.
  • When delegated, assist the Project Management teams with on-study preparation / conduct which may include but not limited to blood collection kit preparation, blood / aliquot tube labelling, photocopying, source data book set-up and data entry into sponsor suppled Case Report Forms (CRFs).
  • Maintain competency with cardiac resuscitation procedures and other emergency procedures such as fire and evacuations.
  • Ensure own Learning and Development Key Performance Indicators are met and upheld.
  • Undertake concomitant medication and drugs of dependence accountability checks.



Requirements

  • Unrestricted Minnesota Nursing license.
  • 2 years minimum Hospital Experience: preferably in Critical Care, ER or Telemetry
  • Strong IV placement skills (highly desired)
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to adhere to documentation guidelines and study protocols.
  • Ability to organize, execute and complete clinical trials per approved study protocols, ICH-GCP and standard operating procedures.
  • Use initiative and work effectively on your own as well as a member of a team
  • Flexibility in working hours and duties
