As President, you’ll be the catalyst for continuous improvement, working to streamline processes, enhance systems, and strengthen infrastructure, all while staying true to Habitat’s core mission. This is not just about managing operations; it’s about creating scalable solutions that change lives, build communities, and advance the fight for affordable housing.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership

  1. Lead the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic plan.
  2. Set and communicate the mission, vision, and values of Habitat for Humanity.
  3. Monitor and evaluate organizational performance and impact.

Operational Management
  1. Oversee daily operations, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  2. Ensure accountability while supporting department leaders and their staff.

Collaborate and Support Regional and National Initiatives
  1. Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and organizational policies.

Financial Oversight
  1. Assist in the development and management of the annual budget.
  2. Ensure financial health and sustainability through effective fundraising and resource allocation.
  3. Support the CEO in the organization’s resource development. Engage with donors, sponsors, and funding partners to support the securing of financial support.

Community Engagement
  1. Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, including local governments, businesses, and nonprofit organizations.
  2. Advocate for affordable housing initiatives and policies.
  3. Promote volunteer engagement and community participation.
  4. Seek partnerships that support and align with the Habitat mission.

Team Leadership
  1. Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of staff and volunteers.
  2. Foster a collaborative and inclusive organizational culture.
  3. Ensure effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders.

Construction and Mortgage Lending Knowledge
  1. Demonstrate an understanding of construction processes, project management, and building regulations to ensure the quality and sustainability of housing projects.
  2. Familiarity with mortgage lending practices and financing options available for low-income families, enabling the organization to better serve its constituents and create accessible pathways to homeownership.

Support Partner Family Engagement
  1. Foster relationships with partner families, ensuring their voices are heard and needs are met through the pathway to homeownership.
  2. Collaborate with families to provide education on homeownership responsibilities and financial literacy.
  3. Empower partner families to actively participate in the construction of their homes, promoting a sense of ownership and community.

Donor/Volunteer Engagement
  1. Cultivate relationships with major donors, foundations, corporate sponsors, and volunteers to support Habitat’s programs and initiatives.

Public Relations and Advocacy
  1. Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization.
  2. Represent Habitat for Humanity at local, national, and international events.
  3. Advocate for policy changes that support affordable housing and community development.

Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, business administration, social work); advanced degree preferred.
  2. Proven leadership experience in the nonprofit sector, particularly in housing or community development.
  3. Strong financial acumen and experience with fundraising and grant management.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Commitment to the mission and values of Habitat for Humanity.
