Your Primary Purpose

Reporting to the Chief Lending Officer, you would be expected to generate loans and deposits, develop new borrowing relationships, and provide the highest level of customer service.


Your Key Responsibilities

  • Using your professional expertise, you would source new loan and deposit opportunities through prospecting, networking with centers of influence and industry professionals, and interacting with Bank staff on internal referrals.
  • You would manage borrowing relationships, and you would foster long-term customer retention in support of the Bank’s growth objectives.
  • You would inform and present the Bank’s products and solutions to customers and prospects.
  • You would ensure that profitability and credit quality of the portfolio is in accordance with Bank’s credit policy.
  • You would adhere to all applicable compliance requirements. 
  • You would participate in the day-to-day credit process, including credit write-ups, customer inquiries, and deal structuring. 
  • You would be expected to gather financial information, prepare loan proposals, and support various aspects of the underwriting function.
  • It would be your responsibility to maintain an accurate and current loan production pipeline.
  • You would present new loan requests to the Bank’s Credit Committee and Board of Directors for their informed and prudent decision-making. 
  • You would review Commitment Letters and negotiate approved terms and conditions with borrowers.
  • You would collaborate with the Bank’s Loan Administration department on loan closings.
  • You would monitor the quality of existing accounts and verify that loans conform to Bank policy and comply with reporting and financial covenants.
  • You would ensure that necessary documentation is completed and request appropriate additional information as needed. 
  • Your work would support of the Bank’s business development activities.


What you need for this role

To be considered for this role, you must have a 4-year college degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. You must also have:

  • Extensive lending and business development experience primarily in Bergen County, New Jersey.
  • Formal credit training.
  • At least 8 years of experience in both Commercial Real Estate and Commercial & Industrial lending.
  • Recently worked for a Community Bank
  • Excellent credit and risk analysis skills required with a working knowledge of various financing options.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant compliance including, but not limited to, Reg-B, HMDA and CRA.


Additionally, you should demonstrate the following attributes

  • Be goal-oriented, have self-motivation and initiative, and be someone who works collaboratively as a team member.
  • Have excellent sales and customer service skills.
  • Be well-organized
  • Be articulate in the English language, in both verbal and written communications.
  • Capable of working independently in a highly customer-service-focused, fast-paced environment.
  • Meaningful knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software is required.
