Senior Project Engineer

The Project Engineer works collaboratively with various departments (operations, maintenance, environmental, etc.) to ensure design, operation, control and production optimization are achieved throughout the manufacturing process. The Project Engineer will manage the entire life cycle of a various projects deemed organizationally necessary for the manufacturing plants.
Some of the responsibilities:
- Manage plant projects as directed and in accordance with company procedures, standard, and designs, from conception through construction and commissioning.
- Experience in managing capital expenditure projects
- Ensure all operating and maintenance procedures are prepared prior to handover to the plant.
- Control and keep projects under budget and on time; prepare forecasts and reports on spending and physical completion to plan.
- Ensure city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to projects are met.
- Manage engineering and project records and documentation of the plant including storage and retrieval.
- Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements; reviewing bids from contractors.
- Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements
- Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
- Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.
- Monitors project construction to ensure project timelines and quality assurance.
- Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.
- Develop drawings and equipment specs required to accurately support project development including RFQ’s, cost estimates, justifications / benefits and AFE (Authorization For Expenditure) preparation.
- Ensure all projects are executed safely and meet safety compliance requirements.
Education & Experience
- Engineering degree
- Chemical manufacturing or continuous manufacturing is a must
- Must have experience in managing capital expenditure projects
- Major manufacturing equipment including but not limited to boilers, steam turbines, air condensers, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, fired dryers, bag filters, conveyors, bucket elevators, air blowers, high temperature refractory lined equipment.
- Solid project management experience with an emphasis on requirements analysis, timely deployment, budgetary consciousness and post implementation success sustainability.
- Experience using computer-aided design (CAD)/computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software
