Senior Project Engineer

The Select Group is seeking a seasoned Senior Project Engineer with a successful, 10+ year career in Project Engineering. This Senior project Engineer must be local to San Diego, California. They will be responsible for assisting with the Control Center Modernization (CCM) program for a large utilities organization, as a part of their multi-year effort involving several hundred sites. Sites include sidewalk vault natural gas pressure regulation facilities, where this client is currently upgrading and adding instrumentation, piping, control valves, SCADA panels, etc. so as to make these facilities monitorable and controllable remotely from a central control room.
** Please note this role requires two days on site in Los Angeles, California. Eligible candidates must be authorized to work in the United States as U.S Citizens or Green Card Holders. We cannot accept candidates for this role that require sponsorship or training program support now or in the future (examples of this would include: CPT, OPT, STEM OPT, etc.) **
Project Engineer Must Have Skills
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Strong experience in Project Engineering
- Project Manager, Engineering, Engineering Management, Discipline Lead are other relevant disciplines
- Experienced with Gas pressure regulators, valve automation, control panels, P&IDS
- Fluency with Office 365 Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Fluency with Click-Up, MS Teams, and Bluebeam
- Must have experience in one or more of the following industries: Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, Pipeline (Midstream), or Utilities
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent communication with executive presence, ability to lead and direct large teams
- Eye to improve/streamline processes and an ability to come up with creative solutions
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering
Senior Project Engineer Bonus Skills:
- PowerBI, SAP, Ariba, MS Project, P6
- Control Room experience
- EIT or PE Certification
- PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or Certified Scrum Master certification
Senior Project Engineer Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Manage the work of various engineering firms and lead/coordinate all of the SCG discipline engineers assigned to the project team
- serve as the single point of contact for all technical matters and be responsible for the timeliness and quality of all engineering deliverables
- The P.E. sets up and conducts Bluebeam reviews of design packages at the 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC stages and manages the technical activities in the project schedule holding SCG and engineering firm resources accountable to it.
- The P.E. conducts regular status meetings with engineering firms and SCG staff. The P.E. will also review and approve invoices from the firms and will review and manage RFIs and Change Orders.
- It is envisaged that each P.E. will manage some 10 to 15 projects simultaneously.
- This is a full-time position and requires two in-office days per week, Wednesday and Thursday, at the Gas Company Tower in Downtown Los Angeles for a minimum of 4 hours each of those two days.
- There will be occasional site visits requiring PPE. Substantive site visits on any day shall count as an in-office day.
