DEPARTMENTAL OVERVIEW:

The Department of Natural Resources and Conservation mission is to help ensure Montana’s land and water resources provide benefits for present and future generations. DNRC believes employees are their most important asset. The DNRC empowers employees to exercise professional judgment in carrying out their duties. Employees are provided with the training and tools necessary to achieve the mission. Both team effort and individual employee expertise are supported and sustained.

DNRC is an organization of approximately 550 full time staff located throughout Montana and during fire season we hire approximately 150 additional seasonal staff each year. Our business and programs are diverse, to learn more about our agency visit .

JOB OVERVIEW: 

We are actively seeking a human resource professional to join our team in Helena. We value professional relationships, continual improvement and take pride in the work we do. We are looking for a teammate committed to actively engaging and learning all areas of our business, someone who seeks out opportunities to engage and learn the needs of our programs by providing expert level human resource guidance and solutions. 

The Human Resource Generalist is the single point of contact for the assigned division(s) and implements all Human Resource Office services, policies and programs. This includes, but not limited to, recruitment and selection, policy interpretation, compensation, onboarding, and human resource training for your assigned offices. The ideal candidate will have a high degree of confidentiality; understands the importance of meeting deadlines; is consistent; values relationships and is motivated to learn and grow with our organization regardless of experience level.

Required to be a trained classifier within twelve months of hire.

The position is eligible for telework 3 days per week

This position reports directly to the Human Resources Manager.

Supervision - none

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education and Experience): 

Requirements for HR Generalist 2: 

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational development or a related field. Minimum of two years of dedicated human resource experience.  Other combinations of education and experience may be substituted.

SPECIAL INFORMATION : Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. A valid driver's license is required with less than 12 conviction points in the most recent completed 36 months. 

  ELIGIBILITY TO WORK: In accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act, the person selected must produce within three days of hire documents that show authorization to work in the United States. Examples of such documentation include a birth certificate or Social Security card along with a driver’s license or other picture I.D., or a U.S. passport, or a "green card".
