Position Description

Primary purpose:

  • This position is responsible for providing drilling engineering support for the safe and efficient drilling and workover of wells

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Represent KM CO2 as a safety leader providing guidance in best drilling and workover practices.
  • As a lead or seasoned, independent professional, handles relatively complex drilling engineering assignments.
  • Follows all company safety policies and incorporates these policies in project design / implementation.
  • Supports drilling / producing properties to maintain maximum economic rate and complies with governmental and contractual requirements.
  • Works independently on project assignments as well as lead in a team environment with on-site, office and contract personnel. Expected to mentor less experienced engineers.
  • Oversees the final approval on invoices and keeps vendors accountable to agreed terms and rates. Negotiates with vendors as needed.
  • Reviews morning reports for accuracy and verifies data to present on budgeted time and cost versus actual.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and qualifies new technology and performance improvements and takes initiative to implement.
  • Job level will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills and qualifications.

Position Requirements

Minimum requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor degree in engineering

Experience / specific knowledge:

  • 6 plus years in the oil and gas and/or pipeline industry.

Certifications, licenses, registrations:

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Competencies, skills, and abilities:

  • Able to develop new or improved processes or techniques if necessary
  • Ability to interpret and apply engineering principles, theories, and concepts
  • Assists in determining project objectives to contribute to the development of a comprehensive project design
  • Provides technical direction to team members
  • Outlines project requirements and monitors progress to ensure the objectives are being met
  • Performs complex assignments
  • Consistently looks to improve process, procedures, and standards
  • Analytical problem solver
  • Has solid understanding of business objectives and implements projects and ideas that significantly impact cash flow

Physical demands:

  • Significant travel to field operations and construction sites.
  • Safety sensitive position

Working conditions:

  • 50/50 office and job site (outside) work locations
  • Working after hours, nights, weekends, holidays and on-call as needed.

Supervisory responsibility:

  • N/A

Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities: Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
  • Master's degree in engineering. Professional Engineering license.

Other responsibilities:
  • Special projects as required.
