As a strategic partner, we work with the dean’s suite, academic departments, business units, the greater VCU enterprise, and community partners to advance strategic communication and marketing priorities. Position Summary:
The VCU School Of Business Marketing and Communications team seeks a highly motivated and qualified Creative Brand Manager. This position is responsible for strengthening and growing the school’s brand presence across all media and communications channels. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications and will work closely with art directors, designers, writers, and multimedia artists and producers to create strategic and compelling branded content.
Typical Responsibilities:
Strategic Communications
Work with colleagues at the university level and within the School of Business to align social media and communications efforts for maximum impact.
Ensure brand standards are carried throughout the school and our communications are relevant, meaningful, and impactful.
Continue to optimize our multi-channel media and message plans, using data and analytics to inform and validate the work we do.
Manage Social Media Reach and Engagement
Elevate social media reach and audience engagement.
Develop and run strategic social media campaigns, constituent outreach/tagging, community management, event support and reporting for School of Business accounts on various social platforms.
Create new accounts as needed. Create hashtags/strategies for events. Attend events and live posts as needed. Respond promptly to community member inquiries and escalate as needed.
Adhere to VCU's social media policy.
Manage Website Content
Manage school website content via a CMS. Keep content up-to-date, create new content aligned with brand strategy, make continuous improvements, and fulfill update requests by departments, programs, offices, and centers promptly.
Manage photo library and other digital resources and coordinate headshot sessions.
Maintain news and events feeds.
Adhere to VCU technology and brand policies.
Content Creation
Write and create compelling, on-brand digital and social content such as copy, photos, video, live feeds and infographics.
Work with colleagues, vendors and student workers as needed to ensure steady content pipeline and high quality content.
Other Duties As Assigned
Provide training and review for quality and compliance.
Participate as needed in special projects. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Relevant bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
More than three years of experience in marketing, communications, advertising or public relations OR directly transferable academic and professional experience.
Ability to think strategically and help grow our online presence as the communications landscape changes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven success in digital content creation and social media management
Skills in developing on-brand content and storytelling for the digital space.
Solid understanding of social media, the significance of community, how to engage people and curate conversations and goodwill.
Effective in managing stakeholder relationships and maximizing shared content.
Ability to work effectively under deadlines and juggle several assignments simultaneously.
Experience working in and fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment or the commitment to do so as an employee at VCU.

Typical Schedule: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week, and may require periodic weekend and evening hours. This position is in person at the VCU School of Business in Richmond, VA. This position is eligible for a limited hybrid and flexible work schedule once training is complete and must be coordinated and approved by the supervisor of this role. Hybrid and flexible arrangements may not be possible during campus events or high student service periods.
