This position is represented by American Federations of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
This position is responsible for grounds maintenance of Coffee Creek Correctional Facility. You will lead a team of adults in custody to accomplish this work while educating them about landscaping and grounds maintenance.
Coffee Creek Correctional Facility is Oregon’s only women’s correctional institution as well as the intake department for the state housing newly sentenced offenders. There are a variety of uses onsite including secure areas, roads, parking lots, landscaping, grass, and shooting ranges. You will work to maintain a safe and well cared for ground. The facility also includes a large fruit and vegetable garden that is used to help provide fresh healthy food to the institution.
The ideal worker for this position is well versed in landscape in the Willamette Valley, comfortable operating and maintaining relevant equipment, has a passion for leading crews and teaching others, and strong personal ethics and boundaries.
What We Are Looking For
Minimum Qualifications
An associated degree in landscape technology, horticulture, turf management or closely related field
AND
eighteen (18) months of landscape experience
AND
the ability to obtain a Public Pesticide Applicator license within six (6) months of hire
OR
Three (3) years of landscape experience AND the ability to obtain a Public Pesticide Applicator license within six (6) months of hire
Requested Skills in
- Supervision and direction of work
- Irrigation implementation and maintenance
- Planting and caring for large fruit and vegetable garden
- Operation of landscaping equipment
- Drivers License

Requirements for Employment
You must be able to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following convictions are likely to result in being disqualified for this position: felony convictions, computer theft, identify theft and fraud. CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range. Also provided are fully paid retirement program, modest life insurance policy, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.
