Job Description
Position: Medical Technician (Administrative Support)

Location: Remote

Position Summary

The Medical Technician will support the Medical Service Branch by performing a range of clerical and administrative tasks for the unit. This role involves close collaboration with the lead nurse, Medical Officer, and other medical staff members to ensure efficient operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Scheduling: Arrange pre-employment physicals, periodic exams, motor vehicle license exams, medical consultations, and screenings (hearing, vision, spirometry). Maintain communication with Human Capital Recruiters throughout the medical process and manage the scheduling of offsite physicals and drug screens.
  • Onboarding Support: Assist the drug coordinator in coordinating drug screenings and ensure proper completion of change of custody forms. Communicate with laboratories regarding forms and relay results to the drug coordinator. Help employees with medical questionnaires and appointment scheduling for medical surveillance programs.
  • Administrative Duties: Perform various clerical and administrative tasks, adapting to frequently changing priorities and responsibilities. Maintain knowledge of supervisors' schedules and commitments.
  • Documentation: Compose routine correspondence based on oral instructions and available information. Maintain confidential medical records and ensure accurate record-keeping.
Information Technology Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
  • Experience with electronic medical records systems.
  • Familiarity with HC Dashboard (training provided).
Job Specific Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, acquired through coursework or relevant experience.
  • Educational Level: GED or High School Diploma.
  • Medical Office Assistant training/certification preferred.
  • Proficient in using personal computers and related equipment.
  • Strong command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
  • Ability to maintain files, order supplies, route mail, and handle telecommunication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise tact and discretion.
