Job Overview:

This position reports directly to the School Finance division senior manager and works on projects to evaluate and make recommendations relating to school district auditing compliance and requirements. This position is responsible for school district auditing functions, auditing of non-local education agencies, and collaboration with Local Government Services at the Department of Administration. The School Finance auditor is also responsible for establishing and directing statewide accounting policies and procedures, monitoring school district financial audits, and providing technical assistance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Behaviors):

Required for the first day of work:

·Knowledge of the theory, principles, practices and procedures of accounting, auditing, and financial statement presentation.

·Knowledge of the state accounting system (SABHRS) or other accounting database.

·Knowledge of technology systems and their application to the management of large fiscal programs.

·Knowledge of personal computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

·Ability to interpret and apply knowledge of the concepts and theories of financial controls and audit standards.

·Ability to analyze and integrate numerous and rapidly changing school budget and accounting laws.

·Ability to understand cause and effect relationships and can identify critical information necessary to solve problems.

·Ability to understand the different roles and hierarchy within the organization.

·Ability to interpret fiscal records, compile data, and prepare financial reports.

·Ability to create and present trainings to varied audiences.

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience ):

·Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, auditing, or relevant field.

·3 years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, or job-related experience.

·Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

·CPA or MBA
