Join Our Dynamic Residential Team

We are looking for an Auditor Trainer to join our growing Residential team This role will report to a Field Supervisor within the Home Energy Squad. The Home Energy Squad team is responsible for conducting energy audits for residential customers on behalf of our utility partners, Xcel Energy and CenterPoint Energy. As an Auditor Trainer, you will be responsible for conducting on-site energy audits while training current CEE employees and Workforce Development interns. This position provides the opportunity to work directly with other CEE employees to train them to our high standards while giving the opportunity to directly impact and improve our training program.

What You‘ll Do

Field Work (approximately 85%)

  • Onboard, train, and shadow auditing staff and workforce trainees in accordance with Home Energy Squad program requirements and expectations
  • Provide coaching and timely feedback to auditing staff and workforce trainees regarding technical and soft skills
  • Install all HES products with quality and efficiency
  • Inspect insulation levels, perform blower door test, IR image scan, and combustion safety diagnostics
  • Walk homeowners through the energy saving process and direct them to appropriate rebate, financing, and incentive programs
  • Deliver insulation quote as part of most visits and communicate with homeowner about importance of insulation air sealing work
  • Cross-trained in Energy Counselor position or ability to be cross-trained in a timely manner
  • Review and send completed Energy Fitness Plan with customers while in their residence.
  • Accurately enter all required information into program software
  • Ensure homeowner understanding and education needs are being met
  • Re-stock vans and manage daily inventory as required

Office/Administration (approximately 15%)

  • Maintain excellent working knowledge of CEE track and relative software programs; act as a resource for other staff in this area
  • Work with Field Supervisors and Workforce Development staff to assess development of auditing staff and workforce trainees related to professional and soft skills
  • Collaborate with training team to create and continuously improve upon field training best practices through both field work and office training
  • Coordinate with field training team to ensure consistent application of standards and procedures across all HES employees while performing office training for WFD interns and internal trainees
  • Review auditor candidates with field training team to select best potential trainees
  • Keep field training team updated on all assigned work and crew training status
  • Continuously monitor and teach auditing staff to ensure best practices are being adhered to in the field
  • Track quality and completeness of all audits performed in the field
  • Seek out and participate in training related to cultural competency, antiracism, teaching best practices, and building science technical skills

Organization Support

Skills & Knowledge We‘re Looking For

  • Effective communication and customer service skills, both in person and via phone
  • Demonstrate cultural responsiveness and an ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people
  • Ability to independently organize responsibilities and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrate ability to perform all residential energy audit crew member functions
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate building science concepts and train others
  • Experience leading an employee training program and ability to adapt to needs of trainees
  • Possess and maintain a valid drivers‘ license and safe driving record in accordance with CEE‘s Fleet Safety Program
  • Be able to lift 40 pounds and work in tight spaces such as attics and crawl spaces
  • Be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Ability to routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
  • Ability to routinely use building science diagnostic equipment such as blower doors, duct blasters, combustion analyzers, infrared cameras, and hand tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two-year or technical degree or certificate or equivalent experience required
  • One+ years‘ experience performing energy audits required
  • Possess Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification or ability to work with CEE to obtain certification

Compensation

The compensation for this position is $24.04 per hour.
