Duties

This position works within the Server & Storage Team and reports to the Server & Storage Supervisor. While the position duties are explained below, this position provides technical leadership on highly complex and mission critical IT systems for information systems and network infrastructure including, but not limited to: Identity Management infrastructure and Server Operating Systems.

The IT System Administration - Senior/Specialist  serves as an expert level technician who performs highly complex tasks for DOR’s Identity and Access Management needs to include, but not limited to, platforms such as: Enterprise Active Directory, Entra ID, Group Policy, and Server Operating Systems. This position also performs maintenance, upgrades, monitoring and systems health checks of DOR IT systems, to include analyzing and troubleshooting problems, implementing resolution, and making recommendations for improvements. Some of the other duties are explained below.

Work group leader for Enterprise Active Directory Domain Services:  

Provide guidance and leadership to lower-level staff to maintain proper operation, maintenance, support, and administration of agency-wide mission-critical and highly-complex AD Domain Services. Provide technical direction of team assignments/operational projects in support of the supervisor and IAM Architect to team members, and validates tasks are completed accurately and timely. Provide staff development by instructing and mentoring team members. Assesses technical capabilities of team members and provides recommendations for team training needs and feedback on employee performance to supervisor. Systems Engineering: Working with the IAM Architect, provide enterprise architecture guidance, support and coordination to customers and IT project teams. Evaluate the impact of enterprise architecture products and services on IT investments, business operations, stakeholder satisfaction and other outcomes. Analyze, design and implement enterprise wide IT solutions that align with the organizations structure, goals and systems. Provide expert-level white boarding, detailed designs, building instructions and implementation documentation for proposed IT solutions.  Provide expert-level technical administration for coordination, installation, and promotion of agency-wide mission-critical systems. Identity and Access Management: Monitor, administer, configure, implement, and maintain Domain Services in the pre-prod, user, and resource domains, such as AD, Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, etc. Perform operational tasks as a Domain Administrator. Verify/remediate AD Replication. Monitor and Remediate SCOM alerts related to Domain Controllers. Monitor DHCP and DNS. Monitor DC and DHCP server disk space. Verify servers and workstations are in the correct OU, report anomalies to AD Systems Architect. Systems Administration: Provide expert-level technical administration for coordination, installation, and promotion of agency-wide mission-critical systems. Efficiently administer and support DOR’s computing environment, ensuring adherence to security, DOR standards, and handling computer account administration. Perform analysis and monitoring to ensure all Identity and Access Management systems stay current with all monthly critical and security patches released by the vendor to mitigate potential vulnerabilities.  Consultation, Project and Committee Participation: Collaborate with the Security Team and Infrastructure Teams, and relevant stakeholders to provide guidance on the essential documentation required for the operation and maintenance of servers and systems, with the objective of addressing and mitigating non-compliance issues. Participate in Projects involved with Collaboration Systems, and User Provisioning Services. Telework Option - Telework is an option for this position, however, the official duty station for this position is the Tumwater Office. The incumbent may be required to report to the office occasionally for training, equipment issue/upgrade or other business need, while observing the guidelines of our safe re-entry program.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics or equivalent


AND

Expert level knowledge in the following areas gained through 7  years of experience. (Experience may have been gained simultaneously):
4 years of recent experience with Identity Management tools.  3 years of recent experience with Server operating systems, server hardware, and server software applications, including, but not limited to:Computer network infrastructure technology, network operating systems, virtualization technology.Translating technical options into business terms and providing business solutions to critical business problems. AND

One year experience in creating, modifying, and troubleshooting scripts and workflows.
