About this Position

The Business Attraction team works with local economic developers, local officials and other stakeholders to help engage businesses and encourage them to move, relocate and/or expand their business in Montana.

The Business Attraction Community Liaison will provide technical assistance and support to communities who are experiencing growth due to business recruitment. This position will work with other Commerce divisions and programs to help provide resources and tools to communities as needed including informing them of funding opportunities, providing assistance with tax increment financing and targeted economic development districts. This position reports to the Commerce Director and works with the Business Attraction team and other teams throughout Commerce as necessary.

What are we looking for?

Education and Experience:

·A Bachelor’s degree in business

·Applicable experience in economic development, government relations and customer service.

·Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Competencies:

·Economic development principles and practices

·Tax increment financing

·Targeted economic development districts

·City, county and state infrastructure

·State and local growth policies and land use policies

·Lead effectively through influence, persuasion and building consensus

·Work with a diverse range of stakeholders

·Think critically and come up with innovative solutions

· This position allows for a hybrid work schedule from a remote location within the State of Montana. Weekly travel to Helena offices will be required.
