Department Of NursingWork type: Instructional Faculty - Temporary FacultyLocation: SonomaCategories: Temporary, Part Time, Instructional Faculty - Temporary Faculty,Unit 3 CFA - California Faculty AssociationDepartment of NursingTemporary Faculty Position (Lecturer)Duties of the PositionProviding effective classroom, clinical or laboratory instruction using methods and materials appropriate to the subject matter and learners.Preparing and grading class assignments and examinations.Assisting and evaluating students, supporting students with accommodations, evaluating learning outcomes and maintaining regular office hours.Participating in program activities including curriculum and program planning, development, evaluation, and decision making as well as the development of new teaching-learning methods and materials as outlined by the Board of Registered Nursing and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.Contributing to development of program policies and procedures.Representing program, maintaining, and developing clinical partnerships for the hospital/ community placements as an ambassador for positive representation of Sonoma State University Department of Nursing.Meeting with managers and staff in clinical/community agencies for orientation and coordination of instruction.Ongoing evaluation of student clinical competencies following course, program objectives and adhering to policies and procedures.Ensuring that all records are collected and maintained as required by CA BRN, CCNE, and University policies.Participating in course, team, program and departmental meetings and professional development activities in a constructive and collaborative manner.Maintaining accurate and timely student records as required.Maintaining currency and depth of knowledge in assigned content and or practice area of responsibility.Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to collaborate and receptive to feedback.Professional QualificationsTo be recommended for appointment, the candidate must have:UNDERGRADUATE TEACHING REQUIREMENTSPrelicensure: A Master's degree in Nursing and one (1) year of full-time continuous experience in the last five (5) years as a Registered Nurse providing direct patient care in the area assigned to teach or one (1) academic year of RN-level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area; andCurrent and unencumbered RN license issued by the CA BRNAppointment is subject to CA BRN approvalCurrent and valid CPR/BLS certification and immunizations as required by the clinical agencyDemonstrates sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of college students and the campus community.Post-licensure:A Master's degree in Nursing and (1) one year of related professional experienceCurrent and unencumbered RN license issued by the CA BRNCurrent and valid CPR/BLS certificationDemonstrates sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of college students and the campus community.GRADUATE LEVEL TEACHING REQUIREMENTSFNP Program:A Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing or related field and national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner; andAt least (1) one year of current and related nurse practitioner experienceCurrent and unencumbered RN and NP license issued by the CA BRNCurrent and valid CPR/BLS certificationDemonstrates sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of college students and the campus community.Rank and SalaryFull-time is a 15-unit workload per semester. Actual salary is dependent upon the number of units assigned, educational preparation, and availability of funds subject to any CSU system faculty contract salary increases.Salary commensurate with degree level and experience.Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,530 - $6,056 per full-time month.The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salary range indicated above is prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.Selection as a candidate in the applicant pool, does not guarantee employment.
