Minimum Job Requirements

  • Physical- Proficient in using a PC keyboard

Job Duties and Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for meeting production deadlines. This position has the authority to place purchase requisitions as needed for the day-to-day operation of the plant. This position will assist the Plant Manager with performance evaluations, wage increase recommendations and appropriate disciplinary actions. Oversees the management of equipment, scheduling of workstations and workers, requisition of supplies and coordination administrative activities as required. Produce parts and products in accordance with the established safety, quality, and cost standards of the Company. Authority to drive company forklifts if trained.

  • Managing all technical aspects and troubleshooting for powder coating and paint operations across various facilities.
  • Developing and documents processes to enhance coatings quality and efficiency, including line speed and density.
  • Leading the setup of new powder coatings lines, including equipment identification, procurement, and project execution.
  • Ensure all department employees work safely and all hazardous conditions are eliminated.
  • Ensure statutory, regulatory and environmental regulations are met.
  • Work closely with Plant Manager and Quality Manager to make sure quality standards and continuous improvement objectives and requirements are met.
  • Work to ensure that the Quality Management System is met and upheld in all assigned departments.
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations in the department.
  • Follow work schedules by department from the Master Production Schedules to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Make suggestions to the Plant Manager as to manpower requirements to maximize throughput of product, while at the same time keeping production costs to a minimum.
  • Help design and implement procedures related to areas of responsibility as applicable.
  • Ensure cross departmental communication is accurate and effective.
  • Supervise and monitor employees reporting to you, including performance evaluation, training, work allocation and problem resolution.
  • Ensure all applicable operating policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Oversee the functioning and maintenance of all coatings shop equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure production departments operate within regulatory and statutory regulations,
  • Write-up work procedures and train as required.
  • Monitor available time for production.
  • Assist with manufacturing process difficulties, i.e. tooling, drawing requirements and interpretations.
  • Implement and maintain inventory control systems and procedures; safeguard and oversee the use of department supplies and materials.
  • Responsible for accuracy of department inventory quantities at the end of each month.
  • Ensure the department maintains a neat and clean work area.
  • Ensure output meets required deadlines while executing the above.
  • Ensure cross training is adequate to maintain scheduling flexibility and redundancy.
  • Assist the Plant Manager to ensure that adequate supervision is present in the plant, including weekends and other non-traditional workdays.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of mechanized powder coating operations, including pretreatment and waste treatment processes.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and improving powder coating and paint processes.
  • Experience with capital equipment purchasing and project management.
  • Ability to perform physical task associated with manufacturing environments and travel as needed (4-6 week/year)
  • Good organization skills, must be able to schedule the plant.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot process failures. Excellent mechanical acumen and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Friendly demeanor, experience with working with customers.
  • Experienced in the use of Word, Excel and ERP type production, costing, inventory control, and purchasing system.
  • Strong supervisory skills and the ability to motivate and work well with others.
  • Understanding of environmental and OSHA requirements.
  • Experience with an MRP system and ISO.

Education and Experience

  • 5+ years managing a power coating line, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role required. Bachelor‘s Degree in Business Administration, Chemical Engineering, or comparable discipline and experience in setting up and optimizing powder coating operations preferred.
