The School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Specialist to join the UVA Autism Core Research (ARC), a part of the UVA Supporting Transformative Autism Research (STAR) Initiative. ARC research specialists work directly with principal investigators at the Autism Research Core director to coordinate research studies. Tasks include study coordination, participant recruitment, enrollment, informed consent, phenotypic assessment, and data collection across autism research studies. They act as liaisons between the ARC and multiple labs and investigators across the university. They administer and score psychological and neuropsychological test batteries (including cognitive, language, educational and developmental tests; standardized interviews; behavioral assessments; behavioral observations, etc.) under the supervision of licensed psychologists. ARC Research Specialists are expected to achieve research reliability on autism diagnostic measures, including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) and Autism Diagnostic Interview Revised (ADI-R). The incumbents prepare written descriptions of testing results, maintain and order materials, assist with IRB regulatory procedures and protocol development, and enter data.

Minimum Requirements
Education : Bachelor's degree in related field.

Preferred Qualifications
Education: Master's degree in Clinical or School Psychology, Special Education, Speech Pathology or related field.

Experience:
Prior experience with the administration of phenotypic or behavioral assessments.
Previous research experience
E xperience working with or interacting with people with Autism
Experience working with children with developmental disabilities.

Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

This position will begin in July 1, 2024.
