Description

This person performs accounting and reporting tasks for grants and financial assistance to the county, including account analysis, journal entries, and developing financial statements.
Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares journal entries recording and adjusting financial transactions.
  • Prepares and tracks correspondence with grantor agencies.
  • Prepares financial reports for grantor agencies.
  • Prepares budget adjustments and monitors grant budgets.
  • Performs transaction analysis of grant activities.
  • Performs bank reconciliations for grantor banking transactions and statements.
  • Performs payroll analysis for grantor reports.
  • Prepares financial analysis requested by grantor agencies and participating departments.
  • Participates in preparing the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and Single Audit reports.
  • Must be able to report regularly for work and be on time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
  • College degree in accounting preferred; finance or related major accepted, with accounting as minor.
  • 3+ years' experience in accounting, government or non-profit accounting preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of accounting techniques and analysis.
  • Understanding of county department operations, organization, accountability and responsibility.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted governmental accounting principles.
  • Ability to analyze problems, prepare financial and statistical reports, and communicate clearly.
  • Proficiency in working with computer programs, including MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Must pass Criminal Background check.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.
