JOB DESCRIPTION

In the role of Materials Manager, you will report to the Operations Director, and will be responsible for strategic planning, directing, and coordination of all materials (procurement, Inventory, warehouse) and project management and planning activities with achieving business objectives. The Materials Manager is responsible for duties relating to internal controls including safeguarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for on-time deliveries of all orders at the lowest cost and ensuring scope of customer expectations have been met.
    • Set appropriate goals aligned with business unit target for all reporting departments to measure progress and performance.
  • Responsible to ensure purchasing department is maintaining assignments, appropriate information is being communicated to internal departments/vendors. The department is following appropriate company procedures and policies, ultimately confirming quality materials are being purchased at the best possible pricing while ensuring timely delivery for goods to support all production activities.
  • Monitor department operating budgets and spending monthly, participate during annual operating planning budget with resources and capital spending requests.
  • Participate and support the systems modernization initiatives with other CTN2, ISE, Corporate personnel.
  • Responsible to ensure a safe work environment for employees; work with the HSE Manager regarding complications and/or proposed improvements. Ensure any incidents are reported to HSE department immediately.
  • Participate with resource planning discussions, with all levels of the company to ensure production objectives are met and resource levels are adequate. Work with Operations Director on new efficient tools/methods. Take control of this task from Operations Director when timing permits.

  • Evaluate systems and processes in place for optimization and efficiencies, implement improvements and changes as required or deemed necessary.
  • Ensure area processes are compliant with the Quality Management System; work in accordance with QA Manager to improve processes throughout departments as required or viewed necessary. Ensure team is participating and submitting non-conformances to QA Manager in a timely manner. Work towards continuous improvement.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible to ensure Inventory/Warehouse department is maintaining assignments, appropriate information is being communicated to internal departments. The department is following appropriate company procedures and policies, ultimately ensuring goods are available for all production activities, shipments are on plan and inventory levels are kept to a minimum.
  • Responsible to ensure project management/coordination and planning department is appropriately planning, organizing, motivating, and directing resources to effectively process capital and aftermarket customer orders. Team is managing constraints, tracking budgets, monitoring schedules, and ensuring scope has been met.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain, business administration preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years managerial/leadership experience.
  • Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with planning and scheduling manufacturing workflow.
  • A firm understanding of both computer hardware and software (including MS Office Excel, Word, MS Project, and Adobe).
  • Understanding of ERP system operation and function.
  • Understanding of blueprints, machining, fabrication, and raw material beneficial.
