The Royal Melbourne Hospital Neurology & Stroke Service is an internationally recognised centre for world-class patient care, specialty and subspecialty training, and clinical research. An opportunity exists for a Grade 3 Occupational Therapist to join a multidisciplinary team to provide high level evidence-based care on our 31 bed stroke and neurology ward.

The role involves supporting Grade 1 and Grade 2 Occupational Therapists on the ward. You will work alongside a part time Grade 3 OT, and also be supported by a medical services Grade 4.

The Occupational Therapy team consists of over 60 staff members who work across the City and Royal Park Campuses in acute, sub-acute and community-based services across a range of specialties. The team is a cohesive group of professionals who support and encourage professional development and career growth. The Occupational Therapy (OT) department is aligned with the broader Allied Health service. The role is supported by OT senior clinicians and research leader, Grade 4 clinical leader, OT workforce manager and the OT manager.

Your new role:

Provide excellent, evidence based and patient centred care including assessment, intervention and discharge planning for patients in the acute hospital wards Supervise and educate junior occupational therapists, allied health assistants and occupational therapy students Demonstrate excellent communication strategies with patients, relatives, staff and relevant services in order to provide appropriate services, information and leadership Actively lead and participate in Allied Health quality improvement initiatives and research

About you:

You have acute stroke and neurology hospital experience with a collaborative working style You have excellent communication skills and a passion for continued professional development for yourself and others. You are an AHPRA registered Occupational Therapist dedicated to providing evidence based practice You value working with supportive and dedicated Occupational Therapists and multidisciplinary teams.
