Grade 2 Hand Therapist
Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist

Casual Hand Therapy role in a supportive and collaborative team Primarily seeing trauma hand and upper limb injuries. Be immersed in the hospital experience, working directly with surgeons and leaders in hand therapy and research

The Grade 2 Hand Therapist provides quality care to patients through sound clinical reasoning, extensive knowledge of UL anatomy and biomechanics, effective communication, and leadership within a multidisciplinary team environment. The Hand Therapist provides assessment, intervention and splint fabrication for patients with acute upper limb trauma, complex multi trauma and for patients presenting with acquired hand conditions. This role is well supported by senior clinician colleagues, Grade 4 clinical lead and the Occupational Therapy Manager.

The Occupational Therapy team consists of over 60 staff members who work across the City and Royal Park Campuses in acute, sub-acute and community based services across a range of specialties. The team is a cohesive group of professionals who support and encourage professional development and career growth. The Occupational Therapy (OT) department is aligned with the broader Allied Health service.

Your new role:

Provide evidence based and patient centred care including assessment, intervention, splint fabrication and discharge planning for patients Supervise and educate junior hand therapist, allied health assistants and allied health students Demonstrate effective communication strategies with patients, relatives, staff and relevant services in order to provide appropriate services, information and leadership

About you:

You have more than two years’ experience within Hand Therapy You have strong communication skills and a passion for continued professional development for yourself and others. You are an AHPRA registered Allied Health Professional dedicated to providing evidence based practice Clinical skills in comprehensive assessment, intervention and treatment planning Competent level of patient assessment, treatment, management and clinical reasoning in acute and/or subacute health Professional behaviour and conduct which reflects self-initiative, confidentiality, self-evaluation and commitment to professional development High level organisational skills, including the ability to manage a demanding workload, and effectively prioritise tasks Ability to impart knowledge to staff at all levels as well as members of the wider community programs Previous public health sector experience, including emergency and safe working practices in a hospital environment Membership to Australian Hand Therapy Association
