Norfolk, United States Careers@Gov Full time
The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) is Singapore’s central bank and integrated financial regulator.

As central bank, MAS promotes sustained, non-inflationary economic growth through the conduct of monetary policy and close macroeconomic surveillance and analysis. It manages Singapore’s exchange rate, official foreign reserves, and liquidity in the banking sector.

As an integrated financial supervisor, MAS fosters a sound financial services sector through its prudential oversight of all financial institutions in Singapore – banks, insurers, capital market intermediaries, financial advisors, and stock exchanges. It is also responsible for well-functioning financial markets, sound conduct, and investor education.

MAS also works with the financial industry to promote Singapore as a dynamic international financial centre. It facilitates the development of infrastructure, adoption of technology, and upgrading of skills in the financial industry.

Join us now, if you have a genuine interest in making an impact to help shape Singapore’s economic and financial landscape.

[What you will be working on ]

As a member of the Legal Department, you will provide legal advice and creative solutions on a wide range of supervisory and regulatory issues covering banking, capital markets and insurance as well as on international agreements, financial and commercial matters. You will be challenged to anticipate and address new financial trends from the legal perspective.

Division 1  advises on the legal aspects pertaining to the prudential and market conduct functions of MAS. It also assists in developing the legal framework for the regulation of new financial businesses and in meeting changing global financial standards. Legal support will cover banking, insurance, capital markets, payment services and financial technology.

Division 2  is responsible for the legal aspects of the central banking and developmental functions and international relations of MAS. This portfolio covers a variety of subjects on governance, reserve and risk management, procurement, currency, technology and developmental projects. The international aspects will extend to legal support in shaping international standards for financial institutions. You will also be engaged in issues relating to public international law and private law issues, including on free trade agreements and memoranda of understanding.
