AECOM is seeking a Planning Intern to be located in our Houston, TX office.

This position is expected to begin in October 2022.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Creatively solve multimodal transportation problems
  • Assist with GIS mapping tasks and analysis of socioeconomic, land use and development, environmental impacts, travel behavior, and transportation demand concepts
  • Analyze a wide range of transportation data and manage the completion of technical analyses, feasibility studies, and other transportation reports or memorandums
  • Develop supporting figures using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and mapping for various projects using GIS
  • Support research and technical analyses on multimodal planning, traffic safety, and emerging mobility planning, among other activities.
  • Prepare and give effective presentations
  • Good communication skills and team spirit
  • Work in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.
Minimum Requirements

  • In pursuit of BS in Planning or related filed with a focus of transportation/traffic planning

  • Must have completed 3 years of study

Preferred Qualifications

  • In pursuit of MS in Planning or related filed with a focus of transportation/traffic planning

  • Self-motivated individual with strong organizational skills

  • Coursework and/or project experience in traffic operation, transportation planning, GIS and data analysis

  • Demonstrated proficiency with one or more software such as ArcGIS, MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Synchro and Highway Capacity Software (HCS)

  • Experience in preparing graphics and visuals

  • Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and graphical skills

  • Strong interest in traffic engineering and transportation planning

  • Working knowledge of CAD
