Job Description Summary

Lead configuration development and system integration of hypersonic vehicles, aero shapes, control surfaces, and integrated systems. Create layouts, models, and parametric modeling in NX for conceptual vehicle designs, propulsion systems as well as detailed propulsion rig CAD designs for fabrication. Investigates design levers and iterates with other engineering disciplines to develop flight and ground test systems. Manages Bill of Materials to track weight over program life and deconflicts space allocations through zone management. Works with technical team to guide detailed design, fabrication, and tests. Performs and/or checks calculations, specifications, and dimensioning to insure fit, order of build operations, human factors, and supplier ability to build.

Job Description

  • Lead system integration activities from proof-of-concept to final manufacturable component
  • Design using 3D CAD and follow fundamental engineering principles
  • Perform analyses ranging from 1D calculations to Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations to understand structural, thermal, and/or fluidic behavior of systems/components
  • Prepare engineering layout drawings to communicate vehicle system architecture.
  • Review detailed designs, manufacturing and test plans for prototype vehicle systems
  • Have strong working experience using Siemens NX (Unigraphics) and Teamcenter
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office products
  • CAD Software expert (NX, Creo, Solidworks, etc.)

Basic Qualifications:
  • 10 Years with Bachelors in Science; 8 Years with Masters
  • Ability to attain a SECRET clearance


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active Top Secret Clearance
  • Experience on flight vehicle design and integration
  • Knowledge of Additive Manufacturing (AM), specifically DMLS, and DFAM techniques
  • Strong ability to make PowerPoints to visualize and convey designs
  • Experience with Department of Defense programs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as strong customer interaction skills with engineers of all levels within own discipline
  • Experience with leading small team of engineers
  • Strong understanding of CFD and application of results to mechanical design
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python
  • Strong leadership skills
