Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary:

This position serves as the Employer Liaison and Business Developer at Lansing Correctional Facility.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

The incumbent will work with the employer and residents assigned to jobs on site at private industry locations, to trouble shoot, problem solve, address issues of logistics that arise, and to provide necessary support and oversight for assigned residents. This includes addressing issues related to transportation, meals, uniforms/clothing, and any related logistics issues. Also addressing any behavior issues that arise at the private industry site, or at the facility, which impact performance. This also includes addressing case management needs that may arise, including ensuring residents are getting necessary programming, services, and reentry planning, without disrupting their employment obligations. This will require working with facility staff to address all areas of operation that impact successful employment; and working with the employer to address issues that arise that in any way impact successful employment.

The incumbent will develop Job Opportunities: In coordination with local Career Navigators and workforce centers, make contact with employers to develop job opportunities for clients. This includes developing relationships with employers, community non-profits and community resources; setting up and attending job fairs; making contact with employers in the community to determine their receptiveness to hiring clients; coordinating between employers and designated parole offices to address barriers to employers hiring clients; and other strategies that increase opportunities for clients to achieve sustained employment.

The incumbent will identify gaps in the plans for success, systematically and individually, and make recommendations to administration and leadership at LCF and with the employer to address those gaps. The incumbent will also work closely with assigned unit team staff and the reentry/programs staff to ensure that issues are addressed to ensure residents assigned to private industry jobs are able to participate fully in employment, while also having their case plan and risk reduction needs met.

The incumbent will ensure strong active communication and information-sharing between LCF and employer leadership, LCF and employer staff, and residents, all as is necessary and appropriate, to ensure good collaboration, and that all are informed as needed for successful placement and employment of LCF residents with private industry employers.

Data: Collect data as requested by supervisor and Reentry division.

Maintain a business partner list containing contact information for the business HR manager. Record and track how many resident/clients the business has hired and pay range.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

Six months of experience in planning, implementing and monitoring activities relevant to the agency's programs. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Preferred Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree with major coursework in criminal justice, the social sciences, or the behavioral sciences, and three years of experience working with offenders in corrections. Or 60 semester hours of college credit, with twelve hours in corrections or a related field, and five years of experience working with offenders in corrections.

Two years experience in the workforce industry, helping individuals high risk regarding employment to achieve sustained employment, and/or working with the job placement arm of a college.

Two years experience working with multi-discipline groups.

Two years experience in offender CBT group work.

Effective in working with a team and communicating.

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must pass a criminal history records check.
